My dad's allotment...
... is producing a lot more food than our field! The difference between the valley bottom and the hill top is phenomenal, from a plant-growing POV. This is what he brought for us this week:
Wow - looks fab. Everyone's tomatoes here have had blight, or something ... not sure of the technical term! ... it's all they talk about in the villages ... so my Mum and Dad's usually copious supply is non-existant. Also potato problems ... they've had so much rain, whereas usually it'd be very hot.
Well he had dozens of tomato plants, and didn't get much fruit at all. We had 8 plants here and got about 4 tomatoes! A depressing year for veg growers all round :-( And I'm dreading the supermarket price rises.. Every year I think "We must plant more"

Ooooh I'd *love* an allotment!
It's done my dad a lot of good Zoe. Good for his health and his social life. It's never boring on the allotment committee! ;-)

Fabby harvest Gill. I wish my allotment would youeld that much. Ah well, maybe next year, huh?
He's there at least 3 days a week and no children to worry about! I guess that makes a difference too ;-)
